Help Connecting to computer issue

New device...G3. Nothing happens when I connect it to my laptop.

Laptop - running LinuxMint 17 plenty of RAM and HD space...

I have always been under the impression that the first time a device is connected to a desktop/laptop, it downloads drivers so it can be accessed via the computer...yes?

You should see be able to see this when dragged down from the notification bar.
and the PC should also recognize the phone as a mass storage device.

True. But that's not what's happening! Any idea?

EDIT: Wow! Ignore my very recent reply! You gave me an idea: "drag down the notification bar..." and I did. There it was, waiting for my input to click to install the program to connect to the laptop...! [SOLVED]
