Connecting to desktop computer

When I connect the phone to my pc with a usb cable to transfer files between devices, my pc doesn't detect the phone's driver or even that a hardware device is connected

the default connection type might need to be set to something other than "charge only". try using a different cable too.

I'm having the same problem, except that my phone says its charging and doesn't even pull up the option to select a different mode.

iirc go to developers mode in settings and enable usb debugging. that should give you the option to change the mode from charging to connect as media device.

drivers should automatically install

I've already enabled USB debugging. Its one of the first things I did upon setting up the phone when I got it.

do you get the different connection modes when you pull down the notification screen?

mine says charge only, but when I tap it I get all the different connect modes -

still though, even in charge only I can transfer files.

try another usb port? another computer?
