Help Connecting to Wifi problems...

Hello,

I purchased a new handset (SamSung Galaxy Ace S5830) and currently suffering a WiFi issue.

When connecting to my WiFi it used to say 'Obtaining IP address' and do nothing.

I then added the following values into the 'Static IP' part in the WiFi Advanced Settings.

IP Address: 192.168.1.253
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
Netmask: 255.255.255.0
DNS 1: 8.8.4.4
(I found this information from another website).

After entering this data, it then said 'Connected'.

When trying to surf the internet or go on Facebook, it says that there is no connection when on the WiFi it says that I'm connected?

Could someone please help me as it's rather off-putting.

Note: I have added my handset MAC Address into my router too, still doesn't work.

Thanks!

not all routers use 192.168.1.1

To check, connect your pc to your router via Lan and then type 192.168.1.1 in browser, if it goes to your router config page then its correct.

else
try 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.2.1. to see it it works

same goes for other configurations.......
