Connecting wifi printer

hi Iam a beginner trying to get my xoom wifi tablet to recognise a canon wifi printer,
when i go to settings and check these it is not there .
Iam using Printer Share App and it asks for printer name . in the settings menu in wifi there is no place to insert a name . I can find it under blue tooth but when details are added there it no help .
Can anyone advise me how to go about this please .
