Help Connecting . . .

Lurker
Firstly, just want to mention that this is the worst phone i have ever owned. Its slow, unresponsive, crashes constantly, memory is always full, have to take the battery out all the time and has to be charged 2, sometimes 3 times a day!

Problem im having now is it will not connect to kies for Mac. It plugs in and the SD card shows up in finder but it just says 'connecting ...' in kies until i unplug it. Have tried loads of different methods mentioned on here but i just cant get it to connect. My friends S2 is the same, just will not connect.

So anything i can do to get it to connect? Reason for asking is it has become unusable as its crashing nearly every time i unlock it and everything (music, photo's, apps, messages) keep disappearing off the phone. If not 3 will be having another angry phone call and i guess sending it off for repair (for the 6th time)

Kies on the Mac is a pile of pooh that has never worked on my iMac/Galaxy Ace.

Have a look on the Play store and download the free Kies Air app that will connect to the Ace via your browser over WiFi (assuming you have WiFi available).

You don't really need Kies anyway. If you plug your Ace into the Mac via USB you should get a notification (pull the notifications bar down from the top of the screen) that asks you whether you want to connect to the computer. Hit the button and your SD card will (eventually) mount as a drive in Finder. If you don't get the notification, go into Settings -> Development and check USB Debugging and try again. Some here say that you should turn USB Debugging off for Kies to work as this will force the download of the Samsung USB drivers. I suspect that this is a Windows feature as it makes bugger all difference to the Mac version of Kies

You could have a duff SD card. If you have an adaptor and a SD card reader have a look at the SD card on the Mac and see whether it is readable. Micro SD cards are dirt cheap these days so a 4 or 8 GB replacement card won't break the bank, as long as it's a genuine one! I'd recommend buying from Amazon via a seller whose orders are fulfilled by Amazon rather than hitting Ebay for the cheapest one you can find. The difference in price will probably be less than a quid.

If anyone has managed to get Kies working on MAc I'd be interested to know how they did it, just out of curiosity.
