Connection Issues

Hey everyone,

I just bought this phone. However, the phone is have trouble connecting to my wireless network and the 4G network. It shows my wireless network as available (and strong), but won't connect to it. Also, it just straight up hasn't connected to the 4G and hasn't even given me the option to connect.

Has anyone else had similar problems?

Thanks!

Is it connecting to your carrier at all? You can't get 4G without a network connection (which is 2G).

Assuming the phone is the correct model for your carrier (there are many models of the S3), and - if the phone and carrier are GSM - you have the correct SIM card installed, go to your carrier's store for help.

Have you checked Virgin Mobile's coverage map to make sure that LTE is available in your area? Sprint (VMUSA's parent company) is still building out their 4G LTE network and many areas don't have coverage yet.

As for general data trouble, did your phone perform an Android update when you first got it? That 4.4.2 update has caused data problems for users. Updating your profile and PRL, then restarting the phone, should help restore data if that's the case. If that doesn't help you can also use ##72786# in the dialer to reactivate your phone to the network.

As a last resort, you can contact Virgin Mobile to see if there are data outages in your area, or troubleshoot in case you happened to get a defective phone that needs replacing.

I had the Data problem after the Android update. I called the number you posted and reactivated and my Data problem is solved. Just noticed it yesterday and was stumped as how to fix it. Thanks!!
