Connection problems with external wi-fi networks

I have a Samsum Glaxy II Skyrocket and currently travelling the US via our RV. This is the second campground (currently near Tallahasee, FL) that we have camped in and the problem I am having is that I am able to connect to the campground's wi-fi, but unable to receive my email, or able to send email via my phone.

I have a laptop that is functioning, but I use the phone more than the PC. In order for me to retrieve or send mail from the phone, I have to disconnect from the wi-fi network to enable the 4G to be able to retrieve/send my emails. In my discovery process I received a text message so it goes without saying that I am a tad confused. Is there something I need to do to my phone, a setting or something like that, that I have to set so that I don't have to disconnect from the wi-fi networks?

I am a fairly new Droid/Smart phone user and still in a learning curb. Thinking the problem may or may not be "operator error." Thanks for your assist :)

Have you tried to do this: settings->wireless and network->wifi settings->press menu key->advanced settings->wifi sleep policy->never...if it doesn't work,try using 3G or 2G connections...

Hi Ryuinferno - yes I verified everything you recommended. Like I said in my post, the only way I can send/get e-mail traffic is disconnecting from host wi-fi and it automatically goes to 4G and everything comes in. Facebook, emails, etc. Thanks for your assist.

I am also having same prob.brother...let me know if you anyone responds to your request..
Thanks Iskumar - glad that its not just me that this is happening to. Sorry about that. Hopefully someone knowledgable enough can address this and help us both.

Hello, I joined this forum to get answers to the many questions I have regarding this phone. Fairly new smartphone user so yes the phone is smarter than me at present.

I am currently travelling across the country with my husband in our RV. OUr goal is to get to Fiery Colorado and return to FL when it is cooler. I am fairly savy when it comes to PCs and enjoy taking photos and editting them. Its this darn phone that is kicking me. lol. Thanks for allowing me to join the Forum.

Sincerely
lmsflamingo
