Connection to computer

Has anyone any idea how I can connect my tablet to my desktop computer to transfer some pictures files, please? Connecting via the USB ports does not work, the desktop does not see the tablet and vice versa. Or has it got to be done via the SD card slot?

Connect via USB port but you need to install usb drivers for your device. At least for motorola and lg I have, I need to install to get it to work. The android sdk default usb driver provided seem not able to work properly for me.

If you have a home network with WiFi then you could use ES File Explorer for accessing your PC as network share.

If you connect it via a USB port, it is adviseable to have an internet connection on the computer as the device may not have the drivers stored in it. There will be a "device installing" prompt in the tray of your Windows Taskbar, and you won't see your tablet in My Computer until its finished.

When you plug your tablet into your PC do you see an icon in the notification bar at the top of the tablet? Pull down the bar and tap on USB connected and see if it allows you to mount the tablet as storage. If you could tell us which tablet model you have and Adnroid version, it would be easier to help.

There’s a very handy app for transferring files over the air called Dropbox... much easier than wrassling with cables every time and you don’t have to be anywhere near the PC to do it.

Cable is useful when one does not connect to internet and still want to transfer file between device and computer.
