Help connectivity Wifi breaks every 3 minutes and with screen on black

Hello everyone,

I have a Samsung Galaxy Y, and have had it for about 1,5 years now. Still as new, no ROM's installed and such.
Since yesterday (coincidentally when we had a new router installed) my phone keeps losing contact with Wifi every 3 minutes. I can live with that, but when my screen goes on standby (or black) I lose connection as well, but this time permanently. The connection is only restored when i 'wake' the screen.

The Wifi sleep policy is always on 'never'. I tried factory reset, I tried static IP, I tried the Wifi-fixer-app, but nothing works.

It's never had this problem before with any other routers. Anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Thanks so much!

Hi Friend

The ROM your are installed on your device or your current OS is not longer available for your device. So you need to reinstall the ROM on your device.

You may try Popular ROMs like CyanogenMod, Carbon, Jelly Bean, Jelly blast, JellyNoid, etc but installing ROMs want ROOT access, but Root may void your phone's Warranty.

You can reinstall the Official ROMs or Custom ROMs which are available on the Internet.

You can Reinstall the ROM via CWM (ClockWorkMod), or Odin (in computer).

If you Install ROM via CWM :

1. Select wipe data/wipe factory reset from recovery menu itself.

2. Select wipe cache partition.

3. Go to advanced select wipe dalvic cache, again in advance select wipe battery stats.

4. Select Apply update from Sd card that you have downloaded earlier(make sure you have renamed the update package to UPDATE.ZIP)

5. Again select wipe data/ factory reset and wipe cache partition.

6. Reboot the phone from Main menu in CWM.

7. Wait for 10 Mins or more(depending on your device performance)

8. Done ! Your device is now successfully updated and the New ROM is successfully installed on your device and your Wi-Fi problem has been gone.

If you install the ROM via Odin :

1. First of all you need to get your device in Download mode.

2. Download Odin and launch the application by Right click on the application and select "Run as administrator" and click YES, Afterwards Odin will open.

3. After your device in download mode, Connect your device into your pc with a compatible USB cord.

4. Download the necessary .tar.md5 file from Internet (sorry I forgot the name of that file).

5. Check 'Auto Reboot' and 'F. Reset' time tick boxes.

6. Click on PDA button to select the .md5 file where you downloaded earlier or wherever you placed.

7. Take a deep breath and hit Start.

8. Don't disconnect your phone from pc, wait for installation is complete.

9.After that installation is complete a "Pass" message will appear to confirm that the device has been updated and Wi-Fi problem is cleared.
