Considering a Samsung Galaxy S2 as my upgrade.....

As the title says, I'm considering the S2 as my upgrade. I will be coming from a HTC Desire which had limited internal memory, so I like the sound of 16GB of internal memory! I was just wondering if whole apps and music and videos can be stored on the 16GB of internal memory?

Any pros or cons and opinions of the handset would be most welcome.

The memory is split into 2Gb for apps, 11.5GB for general storage. The rest must be formatting loss and system use.

The screen is great the battery life isn't.

Cheers mate.

Is there any way of increasing the capacity for apps? Or would that require rooting? It's a shame they don't allow you more than 2GB when there is 16GB to play with.

I ended up rooting and flashing a custom ROM on my Desire because of the limited internal memory and I was hoping to save myself the hassle on my next phone! :D

It depends on the developer on the apps on the SD card.

The only thing that I don't like that it has no dedicated camera button.

Other than that, it is the best phone ever.

the phone is great, arguably the best smartphone available right now. the 2gigs u get for apps is plenty, to be honest.. ive barely used 1gb and i have like .. i dont know, alot of apps :D and yes, u can move apps to sd card, although ur right, it depends on the app. most heavy apps support this, so its not a problem

battery life on the newest firmware (running android 2.3.4 and newer) is a very respectable 24 hours. considering dual core performance, and that large screen, u cant complain. i think its a great choice, go for it :)

I came from a Desire. I LOVED that phone, but since swapping I haven't really looked back. After a couple of days wishing that the Galaxy had Sense, I've now got used to it.
In non scientific testing (me messing around with the phone like I always did with the Desire) I've found that the battery life is better. I haven't bought a second battery like I did with the Desire.
