considering all my options

I have had this phone for a few days now and whilst I love its speed, apps, camera etc...

I'm struggling to get on with its texting, I made the odd mistake with the iPhone but in this I make more, not to mention texting is faster on the iPhone and more responsive.

For phone calls the phone is no problem, battery life isn't amazing but seems better than my 3gs. I just don't know whether to stick with this phone or return it and get the 4s.

The annoying thing is I've grown to hate apple but they seem to have the simple right. Texting is a big issue for me and I'm struggling with this keyboard, also transfering my iPhone stuff (apart from contacts) has been a pain.

Have you tried Swype? You type by swiping your finger from letter to letter in the word without lifting your finger till you finish the word. Do the same for the next word. It's really fast once you get the hang of it.

HTC has their own version of Swype on the phone.
Turning on trace input
1. Slide the Notifications panel open, and then tap > Language & keyboard.
2. Tap HTC Sense Input.
3. Tap the Trace keyboard On/Off switch.

Or you can download the Sywpe beta at beta.swype.com
I love it on both my Android devices.

The thing about the HTC (android in general, actually) is that you can use any of a dozen keyboards. I agree the stock one sucks, but I have loved "SwiftKey". JUst go to the Play store and download a bunch of different highly rated keyboards and try them out. One of them you will love. There are even iPhone clones in there if you just want the familiar.

There's an app in the market that has a keyboard layout just like the iphone. Its called iphone keyboard emulator.
