Root Considering Getting the Charge... How was dev Support on the Fascinate?

I'm considering upgrading to the Samsung Droid Charge whenever it finally gets released, and one of the first things I would be interested in doing is rooting the phone and flashing a rom to get rid of touchwiz immediately. I was wondering, how was the dev support overall on the Samsung Galaxy S line? Were the roms compatible with all Galaxy S phones (like the Fascinate) and could I expect some of the same support for the Charge? Thanks!!

The roms will definitely not be compatible. Even among the Galaxy S variants (Fascinate, Cappy, Vibrant), where the hardware specs are almost completely identical, the roms have to be modified to make to compatible to the variants.

The more popular a phone is, the more dev support it will receive. The Galaxy S was a flagship phone, hence the immense dev support. The charge comes out at a time when all popular phones are wielding duo core CPUs, so I don't expect it to ever become as popular as the I9000 was.
