Hi! I'm Italian, so sorry for my English . I think that this is a normal thing. 3G gives you more speed while surfing the internet, but it's not always available: it depends on the phone connections available in the place where you are. 2G is less powerful but it's easier to find! So the phone switches between 2G and 3G according to the available connection. (I hope in your country it's the same: here in Italy my phone always switches between 3G and 4G).
I hope I've been helpful!

Thanks... but i want to use 3g only.. is it possible?? In my other phone there is option of selectin network mode to wcdma only meaning 3 g. That phone catches 3g network only and in same locality it never loose 3g connectivity while Infocus keeps on switching modes. Please help. Is my phone faulty??

Well, I don't know if there's an option to select 3G only, but I honestly don't think your phone is faulty: maybe the Infocus is less powerful in connecting to the networks available or your phone card works hard to connect. For example, I have a Galaxy s4 that is less powerful in connecting than the Galaxy s3 mini! And s3 mini is older than s4. I suggest you to go to the store where you bought the phone and have it checked. I would like to help you more and better, so, if I find some other information for you, I'll let you know!

Oh now I know a new thing: a friend of mine says that the transition between the two connections is a sort of safety mode: it automatically switches between the two according to the availability of the connections. When you use 3G connection, you have a higher speed but also a higher usage of the battery and of the "amount" (gigabytes)of the internet that you have in your phone card (in Italy it's called SIM card). So try to switch off the "battery life saver" mode if you have selected it on your phone, but also check the residual credit of sim card out: maybe it's over!

Also check the settings of your phone: in Samsung s4 there is an option called "other connections" and you can select the one you want, but I honestly don't know your phone. Let me know if I was helpful!
