Contact issue

I went from a blackberry phone to an android (motorala M2). When my phone service backed up my contacts and loaded in the new phone I was not able to edit any of the information. I tried a few things with no luck and went back into the store for help. They did not know what to do. What they did do was create a duplicate set of contacts......now I have double entries of everyone. Help!:)

Welcome aboard. :)

I can't seem to find a forum for your device. However, what I would suggest is to go ahead and delete the dupe manually. (I did it with over 200 contACTS). It might take awhile depending on the amount of contacts you have - but at least it will do the job.

If you have any more concerns, feel free to ask.

Thanks....I was afraid of that! :) I am so new to the android and struggling with email too. I have multiple business accounts and 1 personal. My blackberry was awesome with the email systems, but android....... I have k-9 with 2 accounts, gmail, and one other. My struggles are finding directions on what is the best way to set these up. I am NOT techy and some of the terminology is greek to me. Is there an instruction manual for k-9. I want to set up different notification alerts for the 2 accts in it, sync, get my contacts loaded, etc. Any help would be great. I was told that k-9 is the most "powerful" email system, but I'm not sold yet.

Thanks.

OK.....I tried deleting the contacts. First I had to seperate them, but when I tried to delete the ones transfered in, it says they are in read only and I can't delete, only hide. What to you think?

Thanks,
T

That's kinda strange, but if it bothers you seeing them..then go ahead and hide 'em.

It wont cause me problems down the road in editing the new or sending messages such as if I change the new contact information, but can't in the hidden, since it won't let me edit.

Since this is the "intro section" of the forum (most members don't often visits) I've moved this thread over to the Android Lounge.

I'm not sure if it will, but its not likely. Hopefully someone might chime in with an answer for you.

Those contacts that would not delete bugged me too. One day I had to stay home for 6 hours because we had people working on the house. I made sure my Google calendar and contacts were up to date then I reset my Galaxy Note.
It was a good time to decide which apps I have were worth it to reload.
The biggest plus is I don't see anymore of those ads that appear on the notification bar.
Google brought back my calendar and contacts with no problem.
I did have to mess around with the phone to bring back my wifi connections for both home and office.
But all in all, I am glad I reset my phone.

When I first switched to Android from a feature phone, I exported my contacts to a CSV file and imported the file into GMail via my computer (mail.google.com). That way when I bought my new Android, all I had to do was sign in using the GMail account and all my contacts were there. It took a little finagling, GMail kinda fudged some of my contacts, but I edited them via computer.

All that being said, you could export you contacts from the Blackberry, import them into GMail, then if they are correct, just do a factory reset on your new phone (or just delete all the current contacts before you do the GMail import via computer), and sign in with the Google account and voil

If the contacts are backed up to your Google account, you can go into your Gmail account on a computer, and in settings there is an option to merge duplicate contacts.
