Help Contact Pictures from Facebook missing in 3rd party apps/widgets

Is anyone using Go SMS Pro or Handcent, or really any other app or widget that is supposed to display your contact pictures? I notice that I can never get any of those apps or widgets to display the contact pictures that my contacts list pulled from Facebook. If I look in my contacts list, I see the profile pictures fine - some from my Google contacts (for those who don't have Facebook) and some pulled from Facebook (for those that do).

However, when I use an app like Go SMS Pro, or Handcent, or even the contact list widget that comes with Go Launcher Pro - they will only show the contact pictures that are pulled from Google contacts (if any) and not any profile picture that is from Facebook. So I end up with a lot of blank contact profile icons.

It's weird and I had the same problem when my former HTC Vivid was upgraded to ICS and all of a sudden, while the contacts list shows the facebook profile pictures - I could nothave any other app/widget show it.

Even in Handcent and Go SMS Pro there is a box to check to indicate that you want to show avatars pulled from Facebook and I have that checked off.

Hopefully I'm not the only one experiencing this?

Nope, definitely not the only one having this issue - I'm having it also. I have the Samsung Galaxy SIII and am having this issue, coincidentally it's using ICS. My previous phone The HTC EVO 4G didn't have this issue and it was using Gingerbread... I think our Google friends made a change to "encourage" the use of Google+.

glad i checked the second page in this section...I was going to complain about it as well...WTH are they thinking. I love Android, but google plus is kinda DOA

I'm having this issue too. FB contact pics work fine in the stock Messages app and are linked properly in People, but they're blank in Handcent SMS and Whatsapp.

I'm on a sensation with ics, FYI.

Also having this problem with both GoSMS and Handcent, as well as the People widget included with Android Pro Widgets. I've posted a question about this on several forums but no answer yet...maybe one of the devs can fix it.

I was speaking with a developer about this issue, and what I inferred was that Android provides an api to return the contact picture. So it is up to the vendor to integrate the api to show Facebook picture instead of the Google contact picture. It seems Samsung has just chosen to no longer include this feature, probably to help speed up updates.
