Contact settings....

OK, first of all... Hi everyone.
I am very new to this android stuff. I used to have the iphone, but decided to switch over. Now, I have a very newbie question.

How do you sort the contacts to "Last Name" first rather than "First Name" first?

hmm i just tried to fool with the contacts now and didnt see that feature.

you can try other contact apps in the market, sorry i dont know of any i am good with the stock contact thing.

thats the great thing about android, if you dont like something or it doesnt do what you want you can find a app the will!

Star Contact was recommended elsewhere on the forums as a good free contact app--I've had it about a day or two, and I definitely think it's a big improvement, though I might shop around a bit. Unfortunately, I don't think it has the function you're looking for, but the price is right if you want to give it a try.

Sad to say, in the 3 days I've had this phone, I've come to believe almost everything negative I hear about Sammy's stock apps. Like the phone itself a lot, but it really needs an update...

Hello, my question is if i have a phone # for joe and an e-mail address for him also how do i put it all in one contact slot instead of two seperate slots. I accadently found it and have no clue how i did it. Thanks all.

Not bashing you , but things like this are well explained in the manual that came with the phone . Always remember that with android, every app you want to customize , or add info to , the menu button is your best friend .

..as this thread is about contact settings, here my question...
- Where does andriod2.1 save new contacts?
- can you choose where to save?

..cause I just added 2 new contacts, but after i search them, I cannot find them in contacs. But if I open sms app and insert the just added name, it pops up, thats strange. I thought, perhaps after restart, it

Again the information you are seeking is in the manual and the menu button is still your best friend ...
Contacts~menu~settings~contact_settings~contact_view~all......

Just downloaded it--listed as "aContacts"--and I really like it. Had been using Star Contact, but I think aContacts is better, better looking too. Thanks for the recommendation. :)

Thanks for the great answer i had no idea what that book was for. I had to delet the contact and redo. Thats where i was getting stuck. Thanks again for the help. I didnt think you were bashing me i just figure you didnt know the answer. Why have a forum when you can always find an answer somewhere else.
