Contact Woes

Vcize

Newbie
I just switched over from an iPhone 3GS to a Galaxy S3. In the store, they imported all my contacts to the S3, however it looks like they imported them as phone contacts and not google contacts (and hence they don't sync with my google account).

So, two questions..

1) Is there any way to quickly change all phone contacts to google contacts so they'll sync to my google account?

2) It looks like my Facebook/Skype contacts somehow go added to my contacts list as well. How can I remove them? (EDIT: SOLVED)

EDIT: I was able to solve #2 by removing my facebook account from my contacts list. It wouldn't let me remove my skype account but I just disabled it in the "contacts to display" list from within the contact list settings.

1) Go into contacts, menu button, import/export, export (probably to SD card). Then, re-import what you just exported and select your Google account as the destination.

quick and easy, but not intuitive.

I tried "contact settings->merge with google" to solve #1 and it says they were sync'ed with google and are now all google contacts, however they don't show up in my google account on my PC.

EDIT: I just needed to sync again after the merge.

So for #1, if you're on ICS or later, just go into contacts and go to "settings->merge with google" and then sync your google account. Hopefully if anyone comes across this on google that will help.
