Help contacts - a little help

Currently I'm syncing my google contacts with my Samsung Mesmerize. I don't have any contacts saved to my phone. I've had a few people not receiving all of my texts. I can manually type their number in and they usually get it, but not always if I select their contact. I've tried saving it in google a variety of ways (i.e. (555) 555-5555, 5555555555, 555-555-5555). Anyway, is it anymore stable if I save it directly to my phone and is there a way to save all my numbers from google to my phone?

Samsungs are always very picky about how the number is stored.

I believe it should be 5555555555. Try that and have someone call you. If their name doens't show up in the caller id, then you might have to add a 1, like this: 15555555555.
I remember having this problem on a samsung before. If i dialed their number as 5555555, their name and pic doesn't show. The phone isn't smart enough to associate the numbers...

Once you figure out the system, you shouldn't have too many problems.

Give that a try and see if it makes a difference

I've noticed that I have no problems with phone contacts. If I ever have issues with a contact, its usually one that is only stored as a Google contact.

Well, I really haven't got far. I stored the contacts that I couldn't text as phone contacts and even deleted the google contact. I tried entering the number a variety of ways. None of it helped. As a reference, I had no issue texting these numbers when i was using AT&T and my iPhone. I ported my number to US Cellular, so it shouldn't be my number and since they were receiving my texts before I don't think it's their phones.

Also, all my contacts that are working are all google contacts and they are entered in every variety that they could be (1-555-555-5555, 555-555-5555, 5555555555, etc).

I honestly think at this point that US Cellular has something wrong on their end but I don't really know what it could be. Thanks for the help :)

I haven't had any issues with texting on my phone. I ported over to USCC from AT&T as well. I used a BB 8530 for about a year before getting the Mez. No problems with it since I switched to the Mez in October.

I live in a 7 digit dial area, however. I can't guarantee that it has anything to do with it, but I've noticed that everyone who has an issue with it seems to be in a 10 digit dial area.

I finally may have things worked out. Its taken 8 calls about this specific issue, but it looks like my number was corrupted during the port. Apparently US Cellular won't look into anything seriously until you ask for the cancellation dept. Until this was found they just kept wanting to do battery pulls and tell me that this phone doesn't work right with Google contacts.

I'm going to post here as my question is relevant: I have a Optimus V for Virgin Mobile - how can I save a contact to the phone, and not save it as a google contact?

When you open up your contacts app, and select to add a new contact, on my phone the first thing the pops up is the option to make it a google contact or phone only.
If you dont see that right away, you should still have that option somewhere.
Look for it as your entering the name and phone number.

I'll look around for it a little more then. Not sure if it matters, but I am running Android 2.2.1 - as far as I can tell, its a pretty vanilla version of Android (no differences that I can tell from my wife's Moto Droid.

No luck. I played around with it a ton. When I click on add new contact, it doesn't prompt me for to choose Google contact or save to phone - it already has "Google contact from myemail@gmail.com" at the top.

I even went in and made it so it wouldn't automatically sync my contacts....still no luck. It still simply has Google contact at the top.

In order to convert a contact to a phone contact, you have to export your contacts to your SD card as a .csv file, then import them back into your contacts as a phone contact.
