contacts by surname only?

Hi,

Does the phone only sort by surname first?

I copied from old phone to sim then to new phone however all my contacts are first name then surname or something like Johns Home, Johns Mob

so when put into hero, it comes out as Home John etc or John/1

I cannot find anywhere to change it, so i ahve to go through all 350 contacts to change it? and when eclair comes out i will ahve to do it again?

Yes i had the same problem, i went through all contacts and edited them. If you are going to put a new SIM into the phone, unless the contacts are 12 characters or less, you won't be able to save onto new SIM card. The best thing to do is save from old SIM as google contacts, and then you can sync the contacts with your google mail. Then there is no need to save on SIM.Hope this helps.

(a) It's a LOT easier to edit your contacts online via Gmail -> Contacts that to do it on the phone.

(b) Yes - the only way to sort contacts on Android right now is by first name. There's no option to sort by last name or company which is a dreadful ommission.
