Contacts, camera, calendar malfunction

I've had this Alcatel Pixi 4 (6.0) phone for just under 3 years. A couple of months ago my Contacts app stopped opening, then more recently my Camera app wouldn't open and now my Calendar app opens, but doesn't send notifications of saved events.

Could this be because of System updates (as suggested by a tech friend)?

Can anyone suggest a fix?

have you tried rebooting or clearing cache? its 3 years old, you might want to try a factory reset.

and i'm not sure what you are hinting at about updates. sometimes with updates you can get a bad download or the update might not have installed properly. a factory reset should fix those issues.
