Help Contacts deleted

Hey all. Yesterday I ran into, what I believe to be, an unusual issue. I let a friend install his sim card into my phone to make a phone call and upon replacing my sim card, I noticed all the contacts I had saved to my phone have been deleted. Is there any way to recover them or to prevent this from happening again? Any help would be much appreciated and thank you for your time.

Were the contacts saved to your sim card or the phone itself. Were they gmail contacts, tmobile, or? if you're on tmobile, log into your account and see if you have your contacts backed up there.

They were saved to the phone itself, they were tmobile contacts. I'll have to check my tmobile account. thanks.

All your contacts should have saved to your gmail!! Make sure its synced under Account and Sync, in settings!
