contacts help

ok, i'm moving from my trusty HTC desire HD to a Nexus 4

Ive tried to move my contacts from one phone to another but with only limited luck so far.

in "people" on the htc it doesnt give me an obvious option to copy to sim, I presume I couldve just put the sim into my N4 and copied it into this and hey presto..........smart phones you say ey !!??

I opened a random gmail account when I bought the HTC, since then I've opened another which I mainly use. the 2nd one has loads of email contacts in it but doesnt seem to sync with phone contacts.

I then went back into the N4 and selected the original gmail account which did input about half of the phone contacts into it, but not ALL of them, why???

i'm so stuck now on what to do, I thought this would be simple but I cant work it out

help, all I wanna do is transfer all my phone numbers over to a new phone !!!

Go into your PC gmail and export contacts from the account with the missing contacts and then open your PC gmail with the account used on your phone and import . They will now show up on your phone. You may want to clean up your contacts. Keep them in one account and build on them is the best way.

hmmm.

ive just logged into my original xxxx@gmail.com and clicked contacts, theres only one in there?

ive signed out and logged into my 2nd account and clicked contacts and its showing about 15 contacts.

when I try the import/export from the HTC i'm showing 229 contacts.....wtf

I have read there is no way of transferring FROM the htc to something else easily, is this true??

and where are all my contacts actually showing then, if they arn't in either account??

thanks

In your contacts, you should be able to export from phone to SD card. Then the best thing to do would be to import them into a gmail account. From your phone or PC. As soon as you have them all on gmail account go on PC and tidy them up... Duplicates etc. Then when ever you change your phone it will always automatically update your contracts from gmail. After you sync with account on phone Sounds like a lot of hassle but not really and well worth doing.

thanks for the help, ive "somehow" managed it. Ive merged the two accounts which I think forced the contacts together, it seems it was syncing in the background anyways I just didnt realise, so yes my gmail now has duplicates, but thats easily sorted.

least I can see who i'm ringing now, thanks again
