Help Contacts: How to copy data from sim to Google

I am using the Samsung Galaxy GT-I5500. The phone has read all my Google contacts and I can access them at all times (connected or not). I installed the sim card from my last phone and the Galaxy happily reads the contacts stored on that.

I would like to transfer the sim card contacts to Google. How do I do that?

Whilst it's for a different phone, it should basically be the same process. Let me know if that helps.
