Help Contacts Image quality problem (Solved)

Will_T

Newbie
I have found a few threads that come close to addressing this issue, like this one: http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s3/752047-display-pictures-contacts-fuzzy.html

But none of them are exactly like my issue. My photos are not on Facebook like the above thread, or anything like that. I use photos for contacts that are in my gallery. The photos are very good quality, (especially on this phone!) When I view them anywhere on this phone there are no problems at all with the resolution. Except, that is, when they display in contacts or are displayed when making a call or messaging. Then the photos are of such poor resolution as to be almost unrecognizable.

Does anyone have an idea what my problem might be?

Thanks!

Well I can not figure this out. Very frustrating. I guess I can live with lousy contact photo display for contacts that I don't use very often. But for the family I really would like the photos to look decent. I miss my grown kids and would at least like to see a nice photo of them when they call or text. :(

I wonder if I take those photos into photoshop and make them the exact size that contacts wants if that will avoid re-sizing or whatever Android might be doing that is messing the photos up?

Does anyone know what size the Note3 uses for contact photos? Or if this approach will even make a difference. You would think that as far as we have come with these phones that something like this would have been fixed by now.

Have you tried reassigning the contact pics?

+1. My guess is that if the photos were assigned from a previous device, then the Note 3 could be trying to keep the original resolution, causing the photos to look fuzzy.

Thanks to both - The photos were the same as on the old Charge so I will try this suggestion.

Perfect! Took me a while to figure out how to remove the photo from a contact, but once removed and re-assigned, the image is beautiful in messaging, phone calls, etc.

Thanks!!
