Help Contacts list gone

My contacts list disappeared and know the list just reads unknown contact. My favorites are still there and if I try to retype in a contact is says it already exists. But I can't get the contact list to display again.
 
Try this, install True Caller dialer.

then use it to Export your contacts, ALL of them, to the SD card, and also to the cloud somewhere,
email, Drive, whatever.

I also use SuperBackup to save all of my contacts list daily to the SD card, and to the cloud (email) for me.
that saved my arse BIG TIME just last month, when the daughter's phone died, and I gave her my old phone.... her contacts merged with my contacts, and we both just started deleting what we did not want.... result? we both lost our contacts.... :(

so, I just grabbed a backup in the SuperBackup stash..... did an import and wallah! they are all there again.

use both of the apps I suggested, they can find things that are not visible to some dialers.... been there, done it, saved me ....
