Help 'Contacts New Storage' thrashing Processor

Hi, had my Motorola Defy for a few weeks, and 'Contacts New Storage' keeps thrashing the Processor, making everything respond like a dog and I have to KILL it to get anything done.

Has anyone else seen this or know why it might be doing it?
