Help Contacts 'picture' not showing on incoming calls

Shimmy_69

Newbie
For some odd and annoying reason, when I recieve a call or a txt from someone in my contact list, only their number shows up now, their picture does not, UNLESS, it is a picture I took with the phone.

If I look in my Contact list, everyone has a picture, as pulled from Facebook or Twitter, but for those that do not use either I have taken a picture to use.

I have unsynced and resynced mulitiple times, but nothing has changed. Any thoughts or tips would be appreciated.

Thanks
Shimmy

The contact photo has to be attached to your google account or phone account for that person, not facebook or twitter.

Hmmmm, well prior to the 2.2 upgrade, all calls and txt would show the icon of the person contacting me, like I mentioned I only have a couple that I have actually used a regular picture for which are still showing, all of the other icons are from FB or Twitter.

Maybe it's a 'feature' of 2.2, my device has not been very stable since the upgrade, probly just need to have USSC wipe the whole thing so I can start over fresh.

Thanks for the info!!

You don't have to take it to USCC to do a factory wipe. You can do it yourself in the Settings menu.

Just do a backup of your phone before you do.

I did do the Factory wipe, but I am more looking for a 'bare-bones' wipe, the factory wipe did help a little, but I am still having random lockup's, power-off's, the phone goes into seizures now and will just vibrate for a few minutes randomly. None of this happened prior to 2.2, just figured something was not quite right during the install.

Understood. Mine does the same thing at times.

But if you take it into a store, they're going to apply the factory reset the same way you did. Just letting you know so you can decide if you want to waste the time waiting in line.

I would only go that route if you're planning to warranty swap the phone. They're going to FR the phone in the store, to see if they can fix it, before they give you a warranty swap.

Ahhh, I see, I was hoping they would give it the 'ol super wipe or something. Oh well, guess I will just live with it. Thanks for the info!

I had the same problem. The photo has to be associated with the phone contact and not anything that is "joined". My phone came from the factory with Froyo already installed so this is not an upgrade issue. It must be a "feature".
