Inevitability

I have Nexus S, and I was wondering if it was possible to control my LG's HDTV, I don't know the exact model, I just now it's Full HD, DVBT compatible bla bla. Our remote is dying, we broke it a few times already, fixed it but every day or two something is wrong. We ordered a new one, but while I wait can I just use my Android? I have Bluetooth USB, I'm not sure if it is compatible with my TV, and WiFi, so if anyone knows anything, please let me know. Thanks
