Convince my wife I should upgrade to 2.1!

I want more help convincing my wife that it is worth the risk to upgrade our Eris to 2.1.

From reading the threads, I read that people say that:
- it's faster (cool)
- you get Google Navigation (we already have a nav system)
- you get access to more apps (anything you found particular compelling?)
- and weather is more animated (we can live without that)

I also read that:
- this will be unsupported from Verizon until/unless the OTA overwrites this
- still no live wallpapers
- still no speech-to-text for text messages and emails

I want to upgrade because it sounds fun to play around with something new again. She's dubious based on the current pros and cons.

Can you give me any other pros? Thanks!

Kidding aside.. listen to her, her "dubious" attitude about the pros and cons of updating to a leaked 2.1 don't come out of nowhere; it's not the final version and there are so many things that users admit to "having to live with," some serious and some benign, that it has shown itself over weeks to be less than what was expected by many.

Some will argue about that, but just look around the threads about bugs, etc. Read it all if you have the time.

I upgraded and I agree with what Frisco has said. Sometimes the anticipation is the best part. I am sure that the OTA will be better than the leaked version anyway as we are just beta testing. I enjoy the new version. I think it is pretty slick and I enjoy toying with it. But why not just wait until the final product is released and then enjoy.

Just for the record, speech to text works fine on my 2.1 v2 phone. If it's your phone you don't have to convince your wife of anything, and if it's that big an issue to the household I'd hold off anyway.

If you are sharing the phone with your wife (not sure how that works), I would hold off. While some bugs do get fixed with 2.1 and new features get added, the problems that some people are reporting would most likely get you in trouble.

Even though I have it and love it, I say listen to your wife.

Sorry. :(

Just go the Rooted 2.1 route, I think they have an option to go back to 1.5 now if you so choose to :)

do you ask her when you need to use the bathroom too??

If it's your own phone, there should be no convincing.

Wellllllll.. now.. let's think about this from all angles.. this fellow has come here and asked a bunch of guys to convince his wife of something.. perhaps there's another reason he wants to see us do this. :D etc..
