I downloaded the Cool Reader ap to read epub and other books. App says to download books to SD card or directly to program. Lacking the card I tried to download to "download" , "books" and other locations. Just got a message saying I couldn't download there. Any one know how to read epub and other files.

The first one I tried was Aldiko and it works just fine. Give that a try.
I tried this app, did not like it though, cant remember why. Is there some setting someplace that asks what the default location is of your books?
When I tried it, i just added my books into a new folder on the root of the nexus that was called eBooks, and got it to work somehow. I use Mantano now, I thinks it is the best one at the moment

You can side load books into the nook reader as well. I use Astro and place them under the nook folder, I think there is a default folder for side-loaded epub files.
