Help Cool things you do with your Inspire?

So I got an Android Inspire 4g phone about a month ago and have found some pretty cool things it can do, but this one is by far my favorite so far..... With the combination of a Sony wireless transmitter, a stereo receiver, outdoor speakers, and my Inspire phone, I am able to listen to itunes playing from the PC inside my house outside on my deck while controlling it with my phone.

Basically what I did was take an old stereo receiver I had lying around and move it under an end table next to the back wall of my house. I then ran speaker wire from the stereo out on my deck to some outdoor speakers. My computer is in the game room at the front of my house. I used the Sony ALTUS ALT-A33PC to wirelessly transmit itunes from my game room computer to the stereo receiver at the back of my house. I then use the iremote Android app to control my itunes over wi-fi. Now I have over 2500 songs from my itunes at my finger tips and no longer have to put my beer down to get up and change the song or turn up the volume.

I know it's stupid, but its the little things like this that thrill me...... Here's a link to the Sony transmitter:

I'm with you as far as getting a big kick out of the simple things. For me, I've always loved to tinker with things so being able to root my Inspire and play with the different ROMs has kept me entertained here lately. In regards to apps, the printshare app is really cool. Just being able to print something out on my home printer while I'm out and about over the 3/4G network is just nifty. Of course the WiFi tether is another cool feature, especially when rooted as you avoid the extra carrier charges for tethering. Hmm what else? If you're into remote desktops, the pocketcloud app does a wonderful job of connecting my Inspire with my home PC, good performance with little lag.

I can control my house's heating/cooling with my phone using Ecobee. Any phone can do it as long as you have the ecobee thermostat installed.

I've been a winmo user for years and years and there are so many things I've wanted to do on a phone that I knew were technically possible but for some reason couldn't be done on winmo or were crappy.

On my first day of android use I was able to successfully connect to smb shares, (estrongs) connect to sftp server (andftp) connect to ssh server (connectbot) so easy!

I can run a webserver or ftp server on it if a friend or I needs files off it but have no cable (file expert).

Finally have a phone with a flashlight mode (I use tesla led widget)

Finally have a phone that can do flash on the web perfectly.

I can control vlc or the mouse or my htpc with multiremote.

I can load up any xvid movie I have onto this phone and play it without having to reencode to a low bitrate 3gp on the pc 1st.

I can play any xvid movie I didn't load up to the phone via the subsonic server I setup at home that will transcode them to any bitrate flash I want so I can watch anywhere. (I've never actually watched a movie on a phone but it's cool that I could, maybe like sitting in a waiting room type situation)

It's awesome that it has an fm radio built in even if I don't use it. (leave the FM radio icon on one of your phone desktops in case one of the fruit cult members looks at your phone, it will make them uneasy, then start talking about adobe flash and sd flash cards and they'll exit, post haste.)

It's very impressive to me that a really accurate estimation of my location can be made without even using the gps, wifi and cell networks I'm told.

I have a free talking turn by turn gps! And this one will never cause my window to get smashed like my old one cause it will always be with me. (but it does use internet)

Live wallpapers kick, you can even run an xvid movie as your wallpaper. This makes iphone people uneasy as well.

Google goggles was very impressive the 1st few days I played around with it. I pointed it at my truck and it says "Lifted Tahoe" mines not lifted but the tires are 1 size up and it gave me some pride to get a compliment from a phone.

I think it's neat that my location is tracked somewhat (I can turn off gps if I didn't like this) for traffic congestion info on maps. This will be really neat when this evolves some and you get a message popping up on your phone telling you "traffic jam 3 miles ahead, get to the left side of other android user in blue explorer and slow everyone behind you down to 57 mph" and google clears the traffic jam by having 2 of its users block and slow people down a bit before they get to it.

edit: Linux geek here, I was excited about android long before the 1st phone with it came out but I've always been afraid of/really turned off by touchscreens (thanks HTC wizard) but I can use it just fine. Kinda glad I waited to take the plunge to android, at&t is about the only carrier worth having around here imo, and they haven't really had any good android phones available before this. Plus its nice my 1st one is froyo too..

edit again: and as geeky as I am I'm surprised I haven't rooted it yet but there's only a couple things I'd want to do as root and they just don't seem worth it. Don't want to do custom roms, I like htc sense and the wife has a nook color with cm7 for rom playing fun.
