CoPilot Live 8 USA - crash help

Yesterday, I purchased CoPilot Live 8 USA from the android market for $4.99. I wanted it for an upcoming trip to the US (I am in the UK). I am using a HTC desire - my phone is 2.2 and isn't rooted on anything like that.

I paid for it and received a google order number via email.

The app then started to download and installed itself.

I opened the app and the splash screen loaded and started unpacking a lot of stuff.

It then asked me what language I wanted - so I chose UK English. It then asked me to select a voice so I chose "Emily" by default. It installed the voice.

I then to enter the google order number and I did so and clicked "Next"

It asked me to create a Live ID - I don't have so one so I selected to create a new one.

The next screen asks to input an email address and password. Now, every time I start to type letters in the email or password field - the whole apps crashes and I am forced to close with this error message:

"The application copilot live USA (process com.alk.copilot.market.usa) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."

It lets you type commas or fullstops in the email field - but if you type a single letter it just crashes.

I have installed the app numerous times, moved to SD card, cleared cache - deleted the copilot folder off the SD card etc etc

The same thing keeps happening at the same point.

More about the error from the google log:
Sourcefile - NativeRenderer.java
sourceclass - com.alk.copilot.nativerenderer$1
sourcemethd: setComposingText
LineNumber: 490

Any suggestions? I emailed the support for copilot but so far they have just asked me to do a clean reinstall from marketplace...which didnt work.

Thanks!

OMG - I just worked out the problem. Its the stupidest thing ever.

I like and use the compact QWERTY keyboard (the one that has more than one letter on each button). For some reason, CoPilot didnt like this for entering email/password.

I changed the keyboard to Full QWERTY and it worked!

What a joke! Why would this happen..

If I change my keyboard back to compact and try and enter a destination in the text field, the app crashes.

So in short, you MUST use the FULL QWERTY keyboard with CoPilot live 8 for Android.
This is a glaring flaw and should be fixed imho.

I was going to ask if you were using a non-stock keyboard. Along those same lines, if you're ever at the point of entering a key in the app (i.e. a product key), leave your keyboard in lower case, even though the key is all in upper case. The app will convert everything to upper case for you if the keyboard is in lower case, but if the keyboard is in upper case, you won't be able to enter some letters.
