Help Copying Apps & software from PC to Defy?

Does anyone know how I can copy downloaded apps and other software from my PC to the Defy?

I recently was able to go into some Motorola software that allowed me to update my contacts to the phone using the PC. There was a section within the software called "File Manager" which I thought might be the section to do this but whenever I clicked on it, it came up with a message saying "insufficient memory" do you know why? Nothing else was open at the time and there was plenty of memory 3GB in fact.

I am unable to get back into the software now though I don't know where it has disappeared to? When I connect my phone now I only have access to it within the My Computer section as an "other" external storage device with access to the photo storage folders. It shows up as MB525.

Can I drop files in here such as Apps and software and then run and install it within the phone or does it have to be somehow done to the phones internal memory not the removable card? Please help. I am liking the phone but so far all the phones I've had including this one have had connections issues with pc. This doesn't seem to be an exception so far as I am unable to have full control and access via USB or WiFi.

Thanks,

John

I don't use moto's phone portal so don't know the problem. But you can set the usb connection to mass storage and access the sd card like a usb drive. Tap status bar > usb connection > mass storage.

After moving apps to sd, you can set usb connection back to portal mode and tap the apps to install.
