Help Copying images and .gifs inside Chrome for android...

How do I copy an image or .gif in the browser so I can paste it into my messages app? When I press and hold on the image all I get is "save image" and "open image in a new tab". Is there really no way to do this? My iPhone 4 could do this...

I assume you are doing this on your phone. In the browser, long press on the picture and choose copy. Then go to your messaging app and long press in the text box, you should get an option to paste. It may have something to do with you phone, too. Please list phone model and android version.

I am indeed talking about on my phone. I am using an AT&T HTC One X running android 4.0 with Chrome. However, I have also tried this with the stock browser and ICS+ browser. When I long press on the image/GIF it just gives me the options to "save image", "open image", and "open image in new tab". There is no copy image. I really hope I can find a fix. Its annoying.

I just tried it in Chrome Beta and you are right, there is no copy option. Try using the stock webkit browser, or install dolphin or firefox and see if they offer it.

I just tried it in the stock browser, Firefox, and dolphin HD. None of them had a copy option when you long pressed. I don't get it...how has no one noticed this before?

That's odd. In the stock browser, i have a copy option. And I can past the image into a message. Just tried it. I've got a SGS2 running ICS ShoStock2 rom. It would be more a function of the browser, though, not the OS.

I'm going to move this to the One X forum and see if any other owners have a solution for you.

Have you tried it with ICS Browser+? It's virtually the stock browser, but with a few more features.

Do you have a copy option in the stock browser EP? I'm wondering if it was deliberately removed in the U.S. because of all the Apple shenanigans. I have a custom rom on mt SGS2 but I can definitely copy and paste graphics from a browser to a text message.

I've a copy link/image url, view image and save and that's it. I'm not sure how "stock" my browser is though as my handset is branded and the icon isn't the standard ICS browser icon, but the logo for my network.

This is what I see:

Yea i definitely don't have those options. I have tried the stock browser, ICS+, Dolphin HD, Firefox, and Chrome. All of them have no copy image option when you long press on an image/GIF. Its just "save image", "open image", and "open image in new tab". I suppose I could just save the image to my phone, open gallery, and copy paste it into my message, but that is pretty non intuitive. Plus that then cluttered my gallery with silly downloaded pics/gifs.

Sorry to hear that. I am beginning to think that the option was either put in the rom I am using (ShoStock2) or it was deliberately removed from the One X because of Apple's Patent Blitzkrieg against Samsung. How they could possibly claim patent for copy and paste is beyond me, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did.

Rooting and flashing might be a solution if it's that important to you.

oh well I guess. I m going to try out the SGIII when it hits stores. I will either get that phone or go back to my iPhone 4. I can't stand the broken multitasking on this One X.

This is a problem with me too, because downloading an image every time and then having to delete it is frustrating
