Help Corp outlook email sync

My wife and I went to vz last night to take advantage of the buy one dx and get any phone free and we were about to pull the trigger but as my wife was asking about setting up her work email that's when the road block started appearing.

She's currently using the Samsung Omnia because it's an officially approved work phone but it really sucks. It's windows based so it works perfectly well with her work email.

Of course, the dx isn't windows based and I did some looking around on the phone and noticed that the email account allows you to add a corp acct. My orig droid doesn't have this corp feature so I was wondering if anyone has successfully added a Corp Outlook acct to the dx? Is it difficult and does she need anything special other than the information that was requested from the Add Account screen?

Unfortunately, her IT dept is closed for the rest of the year as it's a company wide shut down and either way, the company doesn't "technically support" any other phone except their pre-approved windows phone so they don't provide any technically support. Of course, they don't support the iphone but many people have it. I asked her if she knows anybody at work that has a dx and she said no. I find that hard to believe but maybe she just hasn't noticed.

Anyways, any help would be appreciated as she would def like to drop the Samsung and get the dx but the corp outlook email is her roadblock. Thanks.

You need to verify with corporite IT that they will allow this device to sync before you purchase. If other employees are using Motorola Droid phones and syncing Exchange then they have probably relaxed security to allow the DX to function OK. Talk to IT.

My company allows mobile devices to sync via Activesync but they want to apply a nasty policy to the device so that some security features are implemented like the lock screen. I found that Touchdown is the perfect solution for me. It has its own security features and works great. It keeps my work email and calendar sandboxed in the application so I can keep my contacts and email separated. I can also turn push on and off so that I dont get my work email when Im on vacation as an example. Its $20 in the market but there is a free trial so you can test it before you sink the money.

Guys I have just bought a Galaxy R and i keep getting the error - "Setup could not finish. Activation Failed. Unable to connect to network. Try again with network providers default APN".

I am trying to sync my corporate email through Exchange on the Galaxy R.

I have bought the phone in Singapore and it is not unlocked. However I am travelling and am on roaming. I have tried both the local partner provider APN and home provider APN - I am freely browsing the internet and applications are all working.

There are many others on the corp network with DROID so im not the first one.

I am completely out of ideas here and would appreciate any thoughts.

I WAS going to tell you that this is the droid X support forum and not the galaxy R, but uh... There's like 3 posts in that entire forum category. So nvm..

Anyway, the first thing i would check is our outlook rules. I've been bitten by this stupid mistake before. If you have rules that move mail that's sent directly to you to another folder, disable that rule. In order for activation to complete, you need to receive the email from the activesync server in your Inbox and no other folder.

Other than that, make sure all usernames/pws and server addresses are correct.
