Corporate Email

Anyone set up the native corporate email client yet? Curious to know if it has improved to the point where I can unload Touchdown.

I set up the corporate email as well and had no issues either... mail and calendar sync'd quick and easily...

I noticed in Verizon's newest data pricing they have tiers for X GB/month plus email and X GB/month plus corporate email, which is pricier. Does using the Corporate Email settings require the pricier Data plan?

I have mine set up with corporate email, and it is much better at syncing push email than the last version of Android I tried (2.2 I believe)

My major complaint now is that it still doesn't provide notifications when I get an email in one of my sorted folders. We use Exchange 2007. I am in the IT department and I have email alerts and support requests sent to a specific folder using an exchange rule. The phone has no problem pushing the emails to me if i navigate to that folder, but it wont provide with an audible or visual alert that I can tell. I will more than likely have to kill off the rule and have everything go to my inbox then sort it later.

I wonder if Jelly Bean will fix this.

I believe that the higher priced "corporate email" means a service hosted by VZW, or like BES for Blackberries. I use a non-VZW hosted Exchange server for my "corporate" email and use the cheaper personal data plan. Have done it that way for years.

I have done it the same way for years, but this is the first time I've seen a "Corporate" email data plan from Verizon. That makes sense, thanks for the clarification.

does your company force security rules when connecting to exchange? If so you may want to think twice before moving from touchdown to the native email client because you will have to enter your pin every time you use your phone. The main reason i use touchdown is to avoid this, i only have to enter the pin when i access touchdown.

and isn't Touchdown still like totally awesome? Haven't used it for a year (when my company moved me to iPhone) but I remember it being insanely feature-rich compared to any native mail client.

Just my two cents...

Yes...the more recent versions of Android seem to play nice with Corporate Exchange E-mail.

Back in September 2011 when the company I work for went to BYOD, I had to help everyone download Touchdown.

Now when a new employee signs up for the company e-mail, I just load their info into the native e-mail app.

Seems that the latter versions of Gingerbread and ICS seemed to have fixed the problems.

I do agree, however, that having Touchdown does have it advantages.

The company I work for not only enforces a security policy that requires a PIN to unlock the phone, but also the company security policy also allows the company to remotely wipe the phone of the employee if they leave the company for any reason or are terminated.

If, the employee uses Touchdown, however, the company's remote wipe only wipes out the data on the Touchdown app, not the whole phone.

I just got my razr max hd and am having trouble loading my corp email. I keep getting an error that my security policy needs to be updated? Didn't have this on my previous device using exchange native on an hoc evo 4g lte. Any thoughts?

Also, I tried to add it a second time and it keeps saying the account already exists on my phone. I aborted the setup on the first attempt. It says the account "null" is already in use however the account does not show up in any of my account lists.

You should probably remove the account from your phone and start over (if you can locate it).

Honestly, I could never get the native client to work on my X, so used K-9 and Touchdown, both of which worked perfectly. If anyone recalls, Moto botched Exchange so badly on the X, that they GAVE away free Touchdown licenses as a "make good." I stayed with Touchdown because it has so many more options. Not as good as Blackberry but certainly better than native and K-9.

I never bothered trying the native app on my new RMHD. Just loaded Touchdown, filled in the server and user, and it loaded everything in a few minutes. Have not looked back since.

You can download a trial version of Touchdown and see if it works.

Thank you very much for the feedback.

Can someone tell me which version of touchdown I should run on my rmhd? I just got the phone and did all the software updates so I'm assuming I am running jb. Sorry for the stupid question. I just want to make sure I get the right version.

Hope this link works.

Touchdown for Smartphones. V.7.3.00052

Scratch that. Looks like you found a better or at least newer version. Let me check and edit.

OK, so here is the version for JB: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nitrodesk.honey.nitroid

When I got my RMHD, I just let my apps resync and didn't look for a newer version. I'll have to try this one out. But the older version works fine too. You can free trial both I suppose.
