Corporate Sync / Exchange 2007 Question

Okay,
I have an Exchange 2007 server with Activesync and OWA running.
OWA works great. Activesync works great.
I can hook up any droid phone to this system using corporate sync and it works great!

I was posed a question that i cannot for the life of me figure out...

I changed my question...
How does Corporate Sync get through our companies firewall?

Why does it just magically work?
what is going on behind the scenes?

I find it odd that no one knows how our apps work but we just click away anyway?

This is something that your IT department has to allow access to. There are settings within Exchange that enable access through OWA or Active Sync. Either there are a few IT folks that have phones that they want to have access with or this setting is enabled by default when installing Exchange. Can't remember with 2007.
