Help Corporate Sync versus E-Mail

RJT185

Android Enthusiast
In the search of the best way to sync a non-gmail e-mail account I've noticed to separate camps on using the Corporate Sync option instead of just the e-mail option on "MY ACCOUNTS".

For someone who has used the Corporate Sync option on their phone, could you share how you set it up as far as inputting the fields.

Thanks! :)

I believe you can only use corporate sync if your company uses and exchange server. Otherwise, you should use the regular email account with IMAP.

Should I just use the "E-Mail" option for HOTMAIL since it's POP only?

Hotmail supports Exchange on mobile devices now.

In the email app enter your email and pasword, then select Manual Setup ( NOT next). The Hotmail exchange settings are

username: XXXXX@hotmail.com
some email apps need the username to have a \ in front e.g. \xxxx@hotmail.com
password: <your password>
server: m.hotmail.com

Check: "Use secure connection (SSL)"
Uncheck: "Accept all SSL certificates"

FYI, I can't speak to the mail app on the D2 but I couldn't get the HTC mail app to work with the Hotmail Exchange server. I downloaded Improved Email from the Android Market market (there is a free version). It supports exchange better and you can sync your entire mailbox (not just 1 month back). I don't like that it doesn't support HTML email and doesn't have a widget.
