Root Corrupted Froyo email app, I need the file

I got my captivate in Dec 2010. In early Feb 2011 I went from the stock Eclair 2.1 Update-1 to the leaked Froyo 2.2 (I897UCJI6). Everything seemed to work (except the usual non-responsive gps ).

April 17 2011 I went from Froyo 2.2 (I897UCJI6) to Froyo 2.2 (I897UCKB1) and now the built-in email will not load, I get "Sorry! The application Email (process com.android.email) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. [Force close]"

Should I not have gone to I897UCKB1? Was it an actual fix?

I thought about deleting the email program off of the phone, and reinstalling it but I think I need the right .apk file for a Captivate on 2.2.

Not sure were I can find that file, or any other compatible email file.

Therein lies your problem. The leaked 2.2 was buggy and superseded by better custom hacked ROMs even back in February. You tried to go from a leaked, buggy, unsupported firmware and flash directly to an official firmware.

You can't do that. The official update expected a certain environment and you gave it something else. Bad Things Happened.

Your best bet is to try using the Odin 1-click method to get back to 2.1 and then update to 2.2 from that since that's what the official update is expecting.
