Could use some help.

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this.
This is the second time this has happened and was wondering if anyone knows why or what it is.
I have a notification saying "USB storage damaged" then asks me to reformat which i have not done. Also the phone is not reading my sd card.

The first time this happened, about 3 months ago, i woke up one morning, unplugged my phone from the charger and noticed the notification.
I tried everything from restarting to pulling the sd card out. Nothing worked.
What i did was plug my Micro sd card directly to my laptop, copied everything over, reformatted my sd card, put everything back on the sd card, put back in my phone and everything worked. Just had to restore some apps using titanium but all in all everything was ok.

Today, i was just coping a file from my computer to my phone the way i always do and the same notification happened.

Any ideas what it can be?

Thanks

Could be a bad SD card, does it currently work on your PC, what type of SD card is it, is it the original one that came with the phone, I see you have a Samsung Galaxy, have you also scanned the SD card to make sure all is clean

When connected to the pc, make sure to either eject the storage on the pc or unmount the SD card via the phone before you disconnect the cable. usually, nothing will happen when you just pull the cable, but you can get memory corruption. Second, next time it happens, you can scan and repair the card without reformatting via a pc. Put the card in your reader and open a command prompt (Should find it in start > Accessories in win7)

chkdsk /X /F <your SD cards assigned drive letter>

Backing up your data beforehand isn't a bad idea, but I've never lost data doing this.

Good luck!

I always eject the storage on the pc or unmount the SD card via the phone.
As I am writing this, turned the phone back on and it showed that it scanned my sd card. Checked everything and it is back to normal. :hmmmm2:
For some reason, the phone thought it was still connected via usb so it wasn't allowing the phone to read the card. Think the phone froze when i tried to disconnect. Just wondering why after two restarts it didn't correct it.

so should i be looking into a new micro sd card? I currently have a Lexar high speed 32 GB.

Thanks for the responses.
