I can't believe people are taking this study seriously. Pyramid was obviously paid by Microsoft to say this.
Consider these numbers from a May 6 2011 article in the Wall Street Journal (based on ComScore, Inc. data):
Google Android 34.7%
Rim 27.1%
Apple 25.5%
Palm (< 10%)
Microsoft (< 10%)
The article mentions that Microsoft lost 0.9% market share in Q1.
Nokia, which has just partnered with MS, also lost market share.
Anyone claiming that Microsoft is shooting to the top in the next 3 years is smoking some seriously bad weed!
This reminds me of when the "superior" Microsoft Zune came out, and suddenly we saw it for sale in every Best Buy, and accessories all over the place, and rave reviews, and fervent fans claimed in forums that it was going to take over from the iPod. Fast forward to the present--the Zune's discontinued, and iPod/iPhone/iPad are still predominant, although iPhone has had to give away some market share to Android.
