Help couple of things that are bothering me ..

eksol

Lurker
- sound clarity. Maybe it's me but when someone calls, their voice is just robotic, not clear and natural. Again, maybe it's me, I wanna see if anyone else shares the same opinion.

- while speaker volume is good, the headphones volume is just too low. Even at MAX its still low ? Is it the system or again me ? I'm using the phone's headphones. Also, when playing any video, I would like it to be a little louder. It's on MAX but not as loud as I would like.

- cracking noise. The phone looks like it's built very tough, but its not. The back cover which basically acts as a cover is not as tight around the phone as it should be. When pressing and holding the phone, you can feel things cracking.

-This could be due to my area but, I'm getting a lot of switch from 4G to 2G which is EDGE. Why is this happening a lot. ?

1. Your call clarity is affected a lot by your network connection, as is with any cellphone, so you may be in a bad spot whenever you're making most of your calls. But don't rule out the fact that it could very well be your phone.

2. I don't believe there's anything you can do about the volume. I don't have any problems and I've found that this phone pumps some serious bass into my car (compared to previous phones) and some very nice clarity to go along with it so I'm pretty happy with it. Everyone's ears are different.

Edit: cont.2. I just wanna say that while I was typing all this that I have my phone in my lap with Pandora on and I went to turn it down a little bit and went for my laptop volume at first. So I'm thinking maybe yours does have a bunky speaker. Because honestly mine sounds awesome. :)

3. The cracking noise I've heard once or twice but when I try to replicate it on purpose I'm unable to. I did realize that it was shortly after having taken the back off so that was probably my own error (not putting it back on correctly).

4. The thing with the T-Mo 4G phones I've seen is that they recognize 3G and 4G as just 4G or H+ (HSPA+). This is because it's the same thing in a sense. Because T-Mobile's 4G network is just an upgraded HSPA network, hence the name HSPA+, the phones recognize all of that signal as 4G regardless of which it really is. That's why you're getting a jump from 4G to EDGE.
It happens to me as well. It's not frequent and the areas it happens are expected so it's never surprising to me.

If you think there's an issue with your phone though you should go ahead and exchange it. List these problems in the store/on the phone. If you want to make sure you get no hassle then exaggerate the signal issue as that is officially a recognized problem now.

x2 on all points.

However I do feel that the speaker is a tad bright. This from a VoIP engineer and self proclaimed audiophile (conrad-johnson tubes for life! :p) . Headphones/earpiece sound fine to me...volume as well, and its one of my primary requirements for a phone.

As stated, if you're in a marginal signal area, you'll see the 4G - 2G switching. When that happens, check under >Settings >About Phone >Status to see the signal strength. If you're below -95dBm (e.g. -101dBm, -105dBm), then you'll get that condition.

Can't agree more about the stock headphones. At max volume they were at what I would consider normal volume on any standard mp3 player. I have some cheap Sony headphones that get somewhat better volume but not much. Big turnoff for me

Did you try changing the "headphone enhancement settings"?
