Cracked glass w/ screen protector?

TommyVee

Newbie
Just wondering if anyone has broke the glass with a screen protector on? (and yes, I know the screen protector is not designed to prevent that)

I had my razr screen crack. All of the previous droids I owned took a lot more abuse than my razr. I wonder if we have different glass.

I had the LCD crack under the Gorilla glass with zero other damage to the phone. Moto replaced the LCD under warranty for free.

I think the razr screen is a little prone to damage.

Yours is NOT an isolated incident.
Please register your phone with Motorola, and then add this incident to the thread over there about the Razr and Razr Maxx screen and LCD breakages.... right now these incidents are being posted all over the internet, and being reported to VZW, Corning, Assurion, other insurance companies, and to Motorola, but if they were all concentrated in one place, more attention might actually be paid to it.

I'm 43, Ive never lost a phone, Ive never had a phone stolen, Ive never gotten a phone wet to the point that I couldn't use it, Ive never dropped a phone to the point that I couldn't use it. Ive been unemployed for 2 years stuck with my Nokia e71, just got a great job and therefor got a great phone, the droid razr. I babied that thing. Just two months and the glass cracked, I have no idea how it happened. Just fffffff happened. Never joined one of these sites. But people need to speak up about Motorola or this Gorilla glass.

Have you tried getting Verizon or Motorola to replace it you. Some people have had success with that.

Aside from that i think motorola will replace the screen for not too much money (i want to say $180). Or you can order the parts and do it yourself. It's not that hard, but it's fairly delicate.

Any of you guys having trouble from a new batch? I mean like a more recent purchase? Quick google shows a concerning amount of people complaining but at the same time there is a "no problems with screen" bunch of people too. I'm hoping it was the initial lot of the phones maybe? or is this more of a Verizon release issue? Since most of the search hits revolve around the CDMA version rather than the GSM. Im getting a GSM Maxx hopefully tomorrow here in the UAE and hoping the looooooong delay of the gsm version had something to do with sorting the screen cracking issue. Fingers crossed, my brain tells me not to go for it, but its like those women with drama, something still appealing .. haha its so damn pretty though, the phone.

Mine has a diztronic case on it, and it's fallen out of the car from the door jamb several times now. It'll fall out of my pocket while driving and when I open the door there it goes. One time it fell off the hood of my truck like the first week I got it. Oh yea, all this is onto concrete. Not a single scratch on the phone. I guess I'm just lucky but I'm a lot more careful with it now. Bought it late feb.
