Cracked screen on Droid 2

The screen on my droid 2 is completely shattered and I want to replace it. However, my question is if my screen isn't fully functional with the cracks in it, will a new screen solve the problem? This might be a real dumb question but if I'm going to go through all the effort to replace it, I'd like to know whether the touch screen will function like it used to.

Thanks,
Andrew

If it's just the screen that's broken, then a new screen (exact replacement) should solve the problem. But there's a lot packed into these phones, so there could be collateral damage under the screen. No way to know until it's opened up and tested.

I assume that you mean that the glass part is cracked only, which is the Digitizer. The digitizer is like a transparent mouse if you will. I would be willing to bet that if there is no trauma to the rest of the phone that replacing this part will completely fix the problem.

Yes, replacing that digitizer should fix you right up. Put some packing tape over the shattered screen (keeps it from breaking up and going everywhere) then use a hair dryer to heat up the adhesive so it comes off easier. If the LCD isn't cracked under the glass, you should be good to go with a new part.
durapowerglobal.com and flexqueen.com are a couple places I like buying parts from.

Also if you've never taken your phone apart... just go to youtube and search for a "droid 2 disassembly guide". Then you can follow along with a pro.
