Help Cracked Touch Pad, Glass Fine

cabel

Lurker
I dropped my phone on hard floor and cracked some of the screen. It is not the glass, but the LCD beneath seems to be damaged as it starts and ends within the black region surrounding the display of the phone. On one side of the crack there is no response, whilst on the other side there is normal response. The crack is small and does not affect the display in any way apart from being a silvery crack (ie. no black regions or spots).

Any ides on how to help situation, warranty, etc?

Sorry to say, but your warrantee doesn't usually cover things like damage caused through a drop. You may have to go through as an insurance claim!

I thought that would be the case.

Any idea on price? Also, is there a proper name for what I'm describing so that I can properly explain it?

Not really sure... I think you mean the digitizer (or something like that)... it'd be worth contacting your carrier to find out what they say.

They may be able to offer to get it fixed... either as an insurance thing (you should only have to pay a standard excess) or they may be able to get it done free - this would be mean it would still be covered by warrantee. You could also look at getting it replaced by a phone shop on the street (which may cost less, but would mean that your manufacturers warrantee is invalid) or you can usually find how to videos on youtube (which I wouldn't recomend, unless you are good with electronics)!
