cracks around outside of s3

I've heard a lot about cracks on the S3 - near the headphone jack, and near the outside but nothing like this. My son's Galaxy S3 has the usual crack on the side, but one day he picked it up and found that the whole screen had cracked around the edge. The reseller (Kogan, yes I know - shouldn't have bought from them) has refused to fix it under warranty as they claim it was mishandled.
Has anybody seen a crack like this one, or know whether we can 'prove' that it was not caused by it being dropped?

The "cracking", especially in the second pic, looks as if it's happening all around the glass. If that's correct, I'd like to see how to drop a phone so the face doesn't get damaged, only all the edges do. In the real world, I mean, not just in the seller's imagination.
