Crappy switching between 3G and 4G data on Sprint

I've found that this phone's ability to transfer from 3G to 4G data is absurdly slow, if not completely useless. It also seems that it will never switch if there is data transfer in progress. The only reliable way to make it work is to airplane for about 10 seconds, then turn it back on. If there is 4G coverage, it will come back on immediately into 4G.

Example of a common daily routine... When I leave work and walk outside, there is full strength 4G. But the phone will be sitting on 3G from when I was inside. It will not switch to 4G unless I airplane it first to cut it off and back on. The 3G data here is literally like a dialup 14.4 modem. So it will just sit there trying to sync or do whatever its doing until the cows come home. It will never change to the readily available 15mbs 4G data.

It is so bad, I had to make a tasker function to airplane, wait 12 seconds, and turn it back on. I made it a widget called "Reset 3G/4G".

Any way to fix this crap?

if your phone is doing anything data or voice it will not switch. And that's a good thing or you would have dropped calls all the time. You might have an APP that is syncing lots of info and that's tying up the switch. I have no problem on my Sprint S3. I'm not sure what zip code you are in. But also the full turn up of LTE is not complete in my area. So 4G/3G bounce a lot. if you live in a area that is all LTE all the time you can just set your phone to LTE mode all the time go to phone menu ##data# select edit enter your MSL you can get it from Sprint. hit ok select data profile then select HDR/1X selection then select LTE mode only then select ok and your done (warning LTE only mode can have a adverse affect on your phone)

I understand not switching modes while on a call. But while not on a call using data, it is counter productive. The 3G service outside my work in the middle of downtown DC is terrible. Full strength, and you get 20-100kbs, if it works at all. LTE will work at full speed, 10-15mbps and is readily available. But since the phone is trying to sync or load pandora or something at 20kbps, it will never ever get anywhere. It will just sit there doing nothing rather than switch to LTE.

Another example is if I pass through an area of 1x. It will go to 1x, then never switch back to 3G or LTE once back in a normal coverage area. Why? Because it is trying to sync or play music on a 15kbps 1x connection. Derrrrrr.

This is a smart phone. It should be smarter than that!
