Crazy Galaxy s2 problems

Hi I'm new to these forums but I looked at previous threads and none of them helped.... So I have a TMobile galaxy s2 and I've had it for a year now. It recently started giving me all kinds of problems. If I turn the phone off it seems to be bricked but after a day or two it will eventually turn back on. So I've been just avoiding turning it off. On top of all this now when I send a text it ether fails or claims to be sending but never finishes. Please helllllpppp!

No I havnt. I'm confused about the "resets" I heard about a hard reset and a soft but I don't know which is which... How can I do a factory reset

Turn off your phone and then hold Volume Up + Power. Keep holding it until you pass the Samsung splash screen and a new menu pops up.
Navigate through the options with volume up and volume down and select options with the home or power button.
There should be an option that says Factory Reset or Format Phone or something similar.

Another wat to do the Factory (Hard) Data Reset is to tap on the Settings button then follow these steps depending on your operating system;

Factory Data Reset
Performing a factory data reset on your device will return your phone or tablet to its original state. While your media content (photos, music, etc.) will not be deleted from the SD card, applications and their related data will be uninstalled.

To perform a factory reset:

Go to Home > Menu > Settings > Privacy (on some devices, the option to factory reset is located under Phone storage instead of Privacy)
Press Factory data reset
Press Reset phone/Reset tablet
After you perform the factory reset, you'll need to sign into your device with the same primary Google Account you were using before in order to recover your purchased apps.

These steps and the explanation of a Factory Data reset are courtesy of Google Play Support.
