Help Creating a Directory and Folder

I am trying to understand the Gallery and how to transfer photos from my PC onto my Galaxy Tab2 10.1. I want to create a Directory named Photos or Pictures and then folders to put photos from various holidays and named as such. Can this be done, or do the photos automatically go into Gallery. Any help would be appreciated.

You can create a folder by long push on screen and name it and the link to pc and transfer photos
Or link to pc see it as a drive create folder with pc then copy folders to it

Or do it all on pc and just copy complete folder across to tab
