Creating App?

Hi, I have been looking at some sites for building apps.

I want to build a calculator app, with different functions, it will be Joinery/Carpentry specific.

Do you think this is possible on any of these sites? Or for someone with no code/programming experience?

Thanks
James

Anything is possible! It just depends on how much time you wish to spend. If you don't have any previous programming knowledge, I highly suggest picking up a Java for dummies (latest one if possible) and learn some basic programming syntax, as that is key to any application. Once you feel you can make some basic applications with java, begin learning the Android SDK, which, trust me, is way easier then Java itself. Good luck on your road to Android development!

First thing you have to know before you begin android programming is to need have an idea about the core java basics, next you look the android tutorial which help you to build your calculator app.

Strictly speaking if you are trained in Computer Science, programming language is secondary. You focus more on algorithm and data structures. But nowadays stuff move so fast that you are more focused on learning API. It can be a Java,PHP,Perl,C,C++,C# etc but the algorithm and data structures still applies.

If all above are Greek to you then you just pick up Java basics followed by Android SDK and you are ready for developing a mobile app.

Can I build intricate cabinetry, beautifully finished, if I know nothing about wood, woodworking tools or finishes? Is there a machine that will do it for me? That's what you're asking.

No, you can't create a computer program (that's what even a simple app is) without at least a basic understanding of algorithms and data structures. Try emailing some people who have developed Android calculators. One of them may want to add a carpentry/joinery calculator to his list of apps. You'd have to give him the functions and formulas, and you'd probably get a copy for free.
